Please note that buttersticks vary in size depending on the region in your country. I'm from the Pacific Northwest where our butter is thick and chunky unlike you New Englanders who have long, thin butter. Our thick butter is perfect for this dish. The base is a little long for a stick, but the lid fits over the dipstick without chafing the sides or pinching the domed lid. It matches the color of the picture and is cute as damn on my counter. I've tried oilers before but I don't use a lot of oil quickly and I didn't like it when my oil was wet and it got moldy after a while so I really wanted something to cover the oil. Oil from dust and everything else in the environment, but not introducing any additional factors.
