I had been working with this product for about a week when I ordered more and I was surprised to see in the description that it "changes color". Skin color". Strictly speaking, that may be true, but rest assured that the visual perception of color will definitely change. In fact, almost any change in the application and finishing process will change the color slightly, even if the same dye is used. Zur I am attaching two photos for illustration, the first has four swatches I made for myself using different colors of Fiebing Pro Dye (black, brown, mahogany, red) After the base dye was applied (and dried) the bottom one became Half of each was polished and then the right side of each was coated with a coat of Resolene.I did my best to take the photo without highlights to emphasize the shine and you can still see distinct differences between the two sides. In the second photo - the finished handbag: the case is NOT processed with resolene, and the strap is processed, I have a noticeable verdu The buckling of the strap is noticed as a result of using Resolene and you can see it's obvious when they are compared. The color change that occurs is neither surprising nor necessarily bad, but it is something to be aware of. For example, I work with a dark brown color that is almost indistinguishable from black after applying Resolene. To get the color I really want in the finished product, I need to start with a lighter brown dye. -porous sponge, spray) to apply this and I still get visible streaks on the finished product. The fact that it gives a glossy finish makes this worse as more glossy and less glossy areas create a distinct contrast. The top two samples I took (photo) show some of these bands. There the product was applied with a sponge. For the bottom two I used a sprayer but there were so many bubbles that after spraying I wiped the entire surface with a damp paper towel. (I didn't have a sponge handy!) It actually seemed to work better! My real disappointment came when I moved to a large area (about a square foot). All the methods I've tried so far result in subtle but noticeable streaks in the finish that I don't find appealing. It's frustrating when you try to create a finished work and get unwanted effects. So it's not easy to get a nice application! However, I started watching YouTube videos on the subject and realized that there are approaches I haven't tried yet. It seems to be a popular product so there must be reliable methods to make this work - I just haven't found them yet!
