I just bought this stand and it's great. Incredibly portable and lightweight, brilliantly designed in form and function, aesthetically minimalist and unobtrusive. Although I've only had the stand for a few days, the stand appears to be of very good quality along with the mouse case/pad that came with it. The stand can easily be used when traveling, but I have it. set up at home to make my laptop an ergonomic workspace in my small apartment. I use a stand with a Logitech Wireless Combo MK270 with keyboard and mouse, which I highly recommend, and a 13 inch laptop that weighs over 3 pounds. I only plan on removing the stand when I use my laptop at home - it only takes a minute or two to set it up properly and put it away. The stand is easy to adjust and elevates my laptop higher than most of these compact ones and does well made stand. You basically adjust the height and back angle, just like you would with a beach chair or sun lounger. There is enough space behind the device to hide the cables. I also plan to use a stand for my Kindle - the width is easily adjusted by sliding the side molded panels in and out horizontally. There is one main commentary and several smaller ones. The biggest issue is that while the stand offers a good 8-9 inch travel for my laptop screen, it doesn't reach the optimal height at eye level. That's for a standard laptop that opens up to 180 degrees - laptops that don't open all the way have an even lower maximum height. I'm not tall so this becomes even more of a problem for tall people. It's a shame because otherwise the stand is so perfectly designed - and it doesn't seem all that difficult to tweak the design to add extra height. While I plan on keeping this stand, I now feel the need to purchase a Roost laptop stand. Portable and customizable (for Apple MacBook and PC), ergonomically designed at eye level for improved productivity, lightweight, foldable for on the go, versatile, compact and durable, offering optimal extra inches. I prefer Goldtouch for its design, aesthetics and simplicity, and unlike Roost, it can be used not only for laptops but also for smaller devices. But ultimately, Roost is probably more functional (and better for your back). Re: Minor blemishes: the aluminum is on the thin side (to make the device as light as possible no doubt) and in some cases a bit rough. the edges. As a result, the metal can feel a bit sharp - no doubt you could cut yourself if you lift the stand incorrectly. Also, the two front "legs" are made of hard, slippery plastic, so while the rear stand has a rubber mount to minimize sliding, the stand can slide. The stand is still stable - it doesn't wobble with the laptop and should work just fine on a normal sized desk at home. I would only worry about using it on a small table, coffee shop etc where someone might accidentally smack it. I would like the metal to be more finished and heavier and maybe add silicone or some other rubber material to the front legs. , it's by far the best and well worth the higher price tag (at least at the time of this writing in April 2016). Overall I think this type of stand works better than the ones where the laptop sits horizontally on a clever shelf. This type of stand, which holds the laptop upright, is not only more adjustable, but allows you to position the laptop screen closer to you without sacrificing the depth of the keyboard. Also, shelf-style coasters tend to be less compact (and don't fold). On the downside, this design is less stable and doesn't allow for proper organization of the space under the laptop. where some people like to hide their keyboard and other accessories when not in use. Overall I would only recommend the shelf stand to those who like to have the stand on display at all times and still I prefer the style of this Goldtouch. I was on the verge of getting a full size monitor and keyboard to use with my laptop and I'm so glad I found this solution and Roost instead. I wish I had known about this type of stalls much sooner! That would save me a lot of back pain. I'll try to update this review if I learn anything else while continuing to use the stand.
