The mouse is fine. The software required is absolutely terrible.

The mouse itself gets 3 stars. The ergonomics are pretty good, but sometimes I accidentally press the thumb buttons or the adjustment buttons under the mouse wheel. The mouse wheel started creaking after a month or two. LEDs are a nuisance unless you turn them off or turn them off. What you can, but that brings us to the software. Razer apps must be installed to set up the mouse. You need to register on the Razer website and log in through the app. Sometimes for some reason (after an update I guess) the app forgets your login and you have to login again. But the real problem is updates. There are many, many software updates. When there's a new update, every time you log into your computer, even after waking up, Razer Central's big neon green screen will jump to let you know there are app updates. "Okay," you think, "I'll just turn off automatic updates." There's even such an option in the settings. Problem? That. Not. Work. It'll bug you every time they release some sort of update that happens every week or two. And worse, every update requires a reboot. If not reboot? This will continue to annoy you. Disable Razer Services? The large Razer logo on the mouse glows in bright neon green. I've seen discussions on forums about which firewall ports need to be turned off to keep Razer apps from calling home, but that's really a lot more trouble than I'm willing to go through for a mouse. Simply the worst software experience I can remember for a long time. The mouse itself isn't bad, but that shouldn't bother you. I'm looking for something better - and NOT from Razer.

Pros
  • So far so good
Cons
  • Definitely bad product
