All the other lids I've bought have sat on the edge of the plate and sometimes the top hit the food because it wasn't deep enough. These lids are deep enough for this plate and big enough to fit on the plate, not on top. If your hands are wet or greasy they can be a bit difficult to lift, the plastic is very smooth. Solution: dry hands. It would be better if the plastic had protrusions for fingers to grip. As long as my hands are relatively dry, I have no problem picking them up. I am very happy with them.
