All the other lids I've bought have sat on the edge of the plate and sometimes the top hit the food because it wasn't deep enough. These lids are deep enough for this plate and big enough to fit on the plate, not on top. If your hands are wet or greasy they can be a bit difficult to lift, the plastic is very smooth. It does the job. The size is great - both tall (for plates and such) and wide (to cover our plates without touching the edges). The only two issues I have is that it gets really hot if it's only been in the microwave for a minute or two. Second, the condensation it contains can be crazy for some foods, resulting in you having to wipe the inside of the microwave down right away. Not a big problem, but still a bit annoying. The previous cover I bought from WM was always disappointing. Too small and too short, so I almost always had to wash the lid when reheating food on a plate. They basically fixed that problem, but unfortunately due to the slight difference in diameter of my cymbals, they fit about half of them exactly and barely the other half.
