Review on Hayden Automotive 526 Remote Transmission Oil Cooler Kit by David Causillas

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Recommend (even if the fan fails)

*Updated 2018-06-25* Found that the fan did not fail - there was a bad contact. So now I have both fans running and I'm doing everything as cool as possible. :) * This cooler significantly lowered the oil temperature on my air-cooled engine. I use (2) due to the extreme weight, hills I drive and low power of my car. I've already had 2 other broken coolers that literally fell apart. They are set almost exactly to my previous setup. I used a manual switch for the fans as I keep a very close eye on oil temps and also like to turn it on when idling in traffic and ahead of long hills. Wind. They move some air and the cooling effect on the oil temperature can be seen fairly quickly. The only problem I had was that one of the fans had failed. The other works perfectly. I don't think this is a major manufacturing defect, but COULD be considered a potential issue in the long run. I contacted Hayden directly to inquire about a warranty replacement. Nonetheless, I STILL recommend them. They are heavy, well built and cool well in my case. My key findings are: 1) 1 fan has failed in less than 2 years with moderate usage (albeit in very hot conditions). 2) The coolers are quick and easy to install 3) They cool a bit 4) They're sturdy enough to put on the outside of my car 5) I wish the wires that attached were longer (I'm picky) and more standardized in the Color (e.g. black for ground, red for plus)
