I have a 35 Ah Interstate Deep Cycle battery. I bought it along with this charger (saved $9.95 - Yippee). After a few days I think I figured out how the charger works with my battery. After connecting to the charger, the yellow indicator (charging) lights up. The goal here is to get the float light (green) to light up. A floating value means that the battery is fully charged and the charger will remain in this mode without recharging. After about 8 hours I used the meter to check 14.35 volts. According to the manual it will float after it reaches 14.4 volts. I had 14.35 volts so it won't last long now, right. It's okay, no green light after 16 hours, no trickle charge, voltage 14.38, not much progress. Checked again around 20:00. Still 14.38 and no swimmer. I think something is wrong. I'm not worried though as the voltage doesn't rise and the battery is cool. So I'm thinking maybe it floats at 2:35pm. Not correct. After 24+ hours the green light finally came on and the voltage was a comfortable 13.38v. Checked again at 36 and 48 hours 13.38v. Nice. I think that as the charge voltage increased, the charge slowed down (ultimately to a trickle). Faster is not always better. If I want to always have a battery available, I buy another charger/battery kit and always have it on hand. The price is very reasonable. I conclude that this charger is perfect for me. The battery will spend a lot of time in my garage between trolling trips on my boat. This is a very basic (at first glance) charger that keeps my battery as healthy as can be expected. Well done Interstate.
