Good build quality but doesn't work with the Plantronics wired headset

Good build quality, attractive. Full reviews for the product. Unfortunately it doesn't do what I need. I was hoping this would adapt my Plantronics wired headset (which has a 2.5mm jack) to the 3.5mm jack required by my MacBook. This adapter does not fit - the microphone does not go through. If you need this function, I have successfully used this cable: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00T0ROWE4/
