Review on CANWAY Portable Wood Burning Camping Stove - Windproof & Anti-Slip Stainless Steel Backpacking Survival Stove With Bag For Outdoor Hiking, Travel, Picnic, And BBQ by Billy Dotie

Excellent value for the cost

Seems to be a well built product the pot stand holds a pot fairly well. The base is pretty sturdy on it and doesn’t get as hot as the rest of the stove while it’s burning. Tried 2 different tests to see how long it would burn. One test I tried adding 2 cups of wood pellets to it. The wood pellets burned for about an hour and produced a nice strong flame and you could see the gasification happening for the burn. Using the pellets it was hardly any smoke at all while it was burning and produced a roughly 18-20inch flame. Once all the wood gas had burned off the pellets the flame completely went out and it cooled off drastically. Tried test 2 using kingsford charcoal. Filled the stove almost to the top with charcoal and lit it using lighter fluid. After the lighter fluid burned off very little gasification occurred but it was enough to produce a small 2-3 inch flame for about 45 minutes. The way the air circulates inside the stove kept the coals glowing red hot for over well over an hour. It put out around the same amount of heat which would be more than enough to bring water to a boil or cook food in a pan. Using wood pellets the flames were large enough they came past the edges of a 12 inch cast iron skillet but using charcoal they stayed mostly under it.

Pros
  • Lights easily and has very good flame for the small amount of wood I put in the unit.
Cons
  • Takes a long time to heat up, making it inconvenient for quick meals
