Review on 💽 Sonnet Technologies Tempo 6Gbps SATA PCIe 2.0 Drive Card for SSDs (TSATA6-SSD-E2) by Buddy Colbert

It works fine for OSX as a boot drive but will not boot Boot Camp with PCIe

This card allows your OSX operating system to boot from a PCIe slot, but it is only recognized as an external drive, not an internal one Journey. Only SATA ports are recognized as internal. You can change the ICON image to reproduce this sentiment if you'd like. However, I believe that in the end it is not a problem. This works very well for OSX. However, this does not work with Boot Camp. You CANNOT use Boot Camp on the same hard drive as OSX on PCIe. This functionality is not a fault of Sonnet Tech. This is a limitation set by Apple! You must install Boot Camp on one of the SATA ports. At the time of writing this post, I just installed Boot Camp (Win10) on an SSD connected via a SATA/SSD adapter. My boot camp is the bulk of a 500GB SSD. You must have a small OSX partition on the Boot Camp drive for Boot Camp to work. I gave OSX partition 30GB space and the rest (Win 10). I set everything up when booting from PCIE. When you go to Boot Camp setup, only drives connected via SATA are shown. Once you get to the section you will understand what I am talking about. It comes with an extension cable that allows you to connect a second SSD. I'm using my second SSD slot as a 1TB temporary drive configured in exfat format to work with either OS. This allows you to transfer data as quickly as possible. I use it to save 4k video files I'm working on for projects. I edit video in Boot Camp from this drive and later back it up to a NAS server or external drives when I'm done with the project. I edit photos, do graphic design and record music on OSX. If you're running these types of projects from a Mac, I would suggest developing a workflow that only allows you to edit the current project you're working on from the second SSD slot if it's being used the same way Like mine . Please note that if this card does not work with your Mac, you should download the drivers from the website. This should help in most cases. If not, contact text support. They guided me well through my initial setup. But. This is your money. Customize the map to your liking. lol Just thought I would add to the description what this map can do for people like me. If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask. I have Mac Pro 3.1, early 2008.
