I was initially a bit reluctant to spend $40 on some HDMI cables, even though I knew I could probably spend some of the price on cheaper cables. So I bought these really cheap $4 cables from Meritline and they seemed to work fine with my PS3 until one day I started getting these random blackouts on my screen. They only last a few seconds and then go back to normal, but a few seconds can really break your game! At first I didn't know what happened and thought it might be a problem with my PS3. But then I tested HDMI cables on my blueray player and bingo. I've found that cheap cables aren't shielded so they get external interference from other power supplies causing the cable to lose connection. I bought these cables and immediately after packaging I noticed that they felt high quality. They are gold plated and the wires are covered in a mesh material that feels very flexible and durable. I plugged them in and noticed that even the picture quality improved. So this just proves that all HDMI cables are NOT created equal. Yes they are a bit pricey and you can probably find cheaper cables that will do the job. But if you have to shell out $40 for quality cables, I say go for it. You are worth every penny. It even includes a long USB cable for your controller, much longer than those that came with the PS3.
