Cheapest Brand NVMe 1TB. QLC there I could find. Absolutely outperforms the 256GB Samsung SATA-based SSD that comes with the MacBook. You'll need one more mounting screw (not included in this pack) NVMe QLC durability not battle tested yet, but for the price I think I can live with backing up my data once a week to a time machine on the NAS drive makes a solid drive Impression, there are no bumps on the board due to cheaper manufacturing, the board at the top with the company logo is not a sticker as I initially thought when looking at the picture. This is a 1mm thick copper plate heat shield/diffuser. So far, with stress testing and heavy workloads (rendering and software development), I can't tell if the drive generates more heat compared to OEM Samsung without a heat shield. I'll keep an eye on this as the drive's low profile allows an additional 1-2mm of clearance for the low-profile heatsink. Runs in OSX Catalina which wasn't the intended target market so I can forgive some of the performance hits. (My benchmarks are attached) However, I can say that in tests with a sustained 5GB load, it was fairly stable, hitting relatively stable numbers of 1700-1800 writes and 2500-2800 reads. the Apple-Samsung hard drive that comes with the machine.
