Before that, I had the D3100 for a total of six months, so I can draw comparisons between the two. It is my opinion that portraiture is superior to landscape photography. A less accurate replication of colors. Autofocus is notorious for its inaccuracies, but I did not experience this with the 3100. I purchased it for the purpose of taking test shots at imaging-resource, and it appeared that the noise had been resolved in the newest model. Nevertheless, it was not in that location. When greater than 3100, noises get disheartening. Even at the ISO 100 setting. (Maybe a copy that was created in Japan alone was evaluated there; mine was manufactured in Thailand.) The stabilizer offers 24 megapixels, which is comparable to the 14 megapixels that the kit lens of the 3100 offered (blurs appear at the same shutter speeds). After three months of attentive use under normal settings, there was a significant amount of dust that had adhered to the focusing screen, with the largest particle being the same size as the focus point (the lens was put in the store when checking and was not removed after that). In the year 3100, under the exact same conditions, there was no dust at all for the first 2.5 years! I shudder to consider what might happen to the matrix in the near future. (Perhaps this is a fee for parking the lens - there are no noticeable gaps in the body and lens, it appears when parking, but maybe it's not from there, although it is during parking that the volume of the lens increases the most - I think it sucks into all the cracks!), (I think it sucks into all the cracks!). Sometimes, when the lens is rotated, something clings to it ever so slightly, as if something had been placed there. It's not my fault; I must just have bad luck with the copy; yet, the quality is unaffected by this in any way. Amazed at the built-in flash of the camera. With an ISO of 3100 in the dark, it appears as though it would be worthless to photograph with it, but at an ISO of 3300, one can acquire decent shots from a short distance. It is possible to get fantastic films if you are lucky with the focussing, but due to its enormous size, it is quite unlikely that you will be able to use it as a video camera. The fact that I didn't spend this money on a Nikon D3100 with a better lens is the thing I regret the most.
