Review on ๐Ÿงญ SUUNTO M-9 Wrist Compass - Enhance Your Navigation Experience with this Advanced Device by Raul Fabijan

A nice little compass for the price.

Ability to determine course, north and/or navigation in general is great. Like everyone else, you need the skill to use this tool and I'll admit I'm a little rusty. This little man is great for quick, general directions or a quick check of direction when navigating, hiking, or whatever. But I wouldn't use it as my primary navigation tool. Pros: it works. The arrows are clearly visible and the Bessal will rotate to distract or chart your course. There is a small sight system that uses a notch and post like a pistol sight. But they are very small and the lower the ambient light, the harder it is to find them. As far as I can tell, wearing a watch with a watch doesn't affect accuracy. Cons: The description says they are liquid filled and mine isn't, but they still work and I haven't found any cracks, leaks or moisture in the packaging, if I understand it. Aligning it can be tricky as the disc tends to wiggle a lot inside and since there isn't much room to wiggle it will stick to the plastic. It takes a few seconds to rotate the wrist to align. It's felt. cheap. Plastic, workmanship, wrist strap also leave a lot to be desired. Overall: At $25-$30, it's a bit pricey for what you get. If you are a sweaty type like me, the bracelet will become very uncomfortable and itchy over time. Nothing bad, but defiantly annoying. You can always put it through the shoulder strap of your backpack, hiking bag, backpack or body armor. Leave the strap loose enough to allow you to lift and align the compass, and check the direction if the strap is too weak for you. I alternate between the two depending on the day. If you're just getting into land navigation or are poor like me and can't afford a fancy GPS or Garmin unit, this is for you. Although you can never go wrong with a lens compass. I know Suunto also makes a traditional compass if you don't want to pay $100 for a lens.
