I needed this AGPtek SATA/PATA/IDE Drive to USB 2.0 Adapter Converter Hard Drive Cable when my computer's boot hard drive started to die. Just before total death I was able to copy most of the data created by my user from it. After it completely died, I saw this adapter and ordered it. The SATA to USB adapter helped the computer (which now had a new bootable disk) see the old disk but insisted that it needed to be formatted. I chose the full format instead of the quick format because I wanted the bad sectors to be isolated and not used. Since USB 2.0 is very slow, the formatting attempt took 24 hours but failed in the end. I used the SATA cable from this SATA to USB adapter to connect a failed hard drive to the motherboard of a discarded Windows 10 computer. This time it was successful and much faster. I then used the entire SATA to USB adapter to connect the newly formatted hard drive to another bootable hard drive that I had corrupted and transfer all the files I could from the old bootable hard drive to the newly formatted hard drive copied. 365 GB of information. The adapter worked like clockwork and I found everything I almost lost. So it's good to be aware of the limitations of this adapter, but it can work well with simple copy and paste jobs. Also pleased with the low cost of this adapter.
