These lights are much brighter than the traditional recessed lights (see the difference in picture). This is mainly due to the fact that the light surface is almost flat with the ceiling, rather than recessed in the trim as traditional recessed lights.Instead of an 80 degree light cone, this one is probably 150 degrees. The installation is pretty simple: just pull out the old trim, screw the new light into the socket and then push the new flat trim into the housing. The metal clips can be made a little less stiff for easier installation as the new trim is very lightweight and does not need very legs (clips) to hold it in place. I'll see how long the lights last.
