I have a large silicone cube mold from Tovolo. Since the big cube melts slower than a few small ones (less surface area), I wanted more. I saw that they were 2 trays for about the same price and bought them although I was a bit concerned about the relative quality. I didn't have to worry. The silicone on kitchen trays is thinner. When filling the Tovolo tray, I could probably carry it to the freezer in one hand without deforming it or spilling water all over the place. Kitchen trays aren't flimsy, but they do need a little extra support (one arm on each side, or one on the side and one below). Since the sink and freezer are right next to each other, I don't really see that as a negative. However, the slightly thinner silicone is a real advantage if you want to remove a cube. For thicker ones, I fold the tray backwards in the middle. This will lift the medium sized cubes up a bit and make them pretty easy to remove afterwards. Once the middle ones disappear, the corners don't offer much resistance anymore. With kitch trays, moderate pressure on the bottom of any compartment is enough to lift the cube slightly. If I ever want to buy more I will choose this brand.
