We bought this camera just before we went to the Caribbean hoping it would last a week snorkeling/sightseeing and take decent pictures, and she exceeded my expectations. It takes GREAT underwater photos, which is a challenge given the heavy movement and/or low light conditions. It also records excellent quality underwater videos which was an added bonus. Depending on the sunlight, the screen was surprisingly clear even underwater, and in low light I could just aim and shoot and still get a decent shot. The viewing window makes a robust impression and does not get scratched despite frequent use. We took our $2,000 SLR on vacation and were so impressed with this camera that we ended up using it exclusively so we didn't have to worry about the prettier camera getting wet. Since that holiday we've used the camera over water when we were concerned our Nikon DSLR might be exposed to bad weather (on the beach, on a boat or just on a rainy day) and it's been great every time. The size is nice and compact, so you can just put it in your backpack or bag and go. Buy an extra (larger) memory card and battery so you can swap them out on the go if needed. Highly recommended
