Yes, could be thicker for MORE warmth but then it would be bulkier and less comfortable. The side Velcro is overkill. There's enough there to stop a freight train! Since the coat doesn't have the strain of a leash, it doesn't have to be that strong. That much Velcro is a little tough to peel apart. The pups love them and never chew on 'em (miracle). So I just never take them off! 😉I get compliments from everyone. I put the harnesses on OVER the coats because the harness always comes off hours before the coats but they fit real well UNDER the coats too (with that smart zipper access hole). Those thin reflector strips are VERY bright! I never give five stars cuz nuthn's perfect; gives them incentive to refine even further!
