I'm not a plumber but I play it at home. When my sink started gurgling, slurping, and making weird noises, especially when I was flushing the toilet, I started searching online. Turns out I installed the sink without proper ventilation. Doh! Well a few minutes with a PVC saw and that amazing smell of solvent and the problem was solved. I pretty much sell AAVs like this for confined space ventilation. This AAV Oatey is great because it works and also because it requires two sizes of PVC pipe - just flip the adapter. I chose 2 inches for best flow. UPDATE: Since this review was first posted, I've installed three more of these on different sinks. Now I swear by these AAV devices. PVC pipe works well and you will love it.
