Review on Weaver Leather Original Adjustable Halter by Broderick Shetler

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Nice sturdy adjustable halter with good fit just very heavy

I bought one of these 3 years ago and it has held up well, after the first year the light green color has faded but it has still faded and held up well kept seams and accessories. After about 1.5 years the chin strap clip buckled and wouldn't close until I hammered it in. It was dodgy and was hit several times over the course of a year and a half, but it finally broke only a few days ago when patched with a hammer. The Revain price is currently higher than the online horse stores I have bought from before and I have chosen the Graphite and French Blue colors and they are really good. My horse is out in the field so won't wear a halter unless I do something with it. , but in the warmer months I honestly just hang his halter and lead him to a branch or cling to a fence in the sun/rain/elements. 3 years of abuse, the only wear and tear had faded, and the clip broken from constant beating is good durability in my opinion. If he had to wear a halter all the time I would buy a single layer adjustable nylon halter with plain rings instead of those very heavy D rings just to have something lighter. My horse is 16 hours 1000-1100. a quarter horse with a proportional but more warm-blooded head than the QHs, and the horse's size is perfect for the smaller strap holes behind the ears and the medium-sized strap holes around the nose.
