I bought them a size 5 for my son who is between 4T and 5T. The first two washes they fit him well, but the third wash he complained that they were tight. After the fourth wash I can see that the fabric is fraying and there are holes on both knees. All in all, they're very cute, but I don't expect him to wear them out in more than a few months.
