I am very glad that I have a glass thermos and not a metal one. However, in this model, the collar that holds the glass insert is made of plastic or silicone that comes into contact with the hot liquid inside. By not overfilling and keeping the bottle upright, you can minimize this contact. I don't want the plastic/silicone to come in contact with the hot beverages I'm about to drink. However, it works well and there are few glass thermos options left. In fact, this product may be discontinued as it no longer appears on the Thermos website. Only "Add-a-Cup" models are listed as glass-insulated options on their website.
