This design is smoother than the original blade in my opinion. See the difference in the curvature of the two blades in the picture. An OEM blade costs over $25 while a new trimmer costs around $45. So I tried this aftermarket. I have no problem with not cutting my hair but rather pulling it out. The only small issue is the horizontal hole that fits the blade, which doesn't fit the cam/drive or whatever it's called (see harrow). I've put a bit of effort into setting this up correctly. Otherwise it worked fine.
