At first I was looking for a one piece assembly (cable and power supply are connected, not the plug) but after that I had to run the cable through the attic, eaves etc. If the power supply (the part that plugs into the outlet) fails, I can easily replace that component without having to unplug the cord again if they were plugged in as a unit. All of the power supplies in my layout fit into an outlet either in the attic or indoors, so I can't comment on how well they perform outdoors. Two of my four cameras are under a porch or awning so they can't see rain or snow. The other two are outdoors so we'll see. So far, so good. I also use silicone camera cases.
