In any case, I would buy 50mm f1.8 for the 18-55 kit. If you have more money, look at zooms with f2.8 aperture and, preferably, stabilizer. Keep in mind that prime lenses are almost always better than zoom lenses in terms of image quality. You may need an external flash, I recommend with E-TTL support and a swivel head (puff into walls and ceilings). This crop is the best for the price, models like 60-70d are better in grip and easier to control, model 100d is the most compact. If price isn't a factor I'd go for the 100d for a really compact option or the 60d for a more comfortable ride but it's not small and I personally don't like walking around with a machine that looks like a pro, people get scared. Next in price and quality is used 5d mk II, then 6d and 5d mk III I think that the most important thing when choosing from crops is to choose a budget and size, and it affects the grip and ease of control. There are still not significant differences in the focusing systems of devices: the difference in the number of points, the type of points (cross or not), different focusing capabilities in live view and STM support.
