The Putty that comes with the kit is hard as rock. It's completely useless. You have to use it to glue the rings on the paper. Not only was the putty in the second set rock hard, I found that the cheap plastic gears and rings didn't stick to the writing surface and caused the gears to constantly pop out as I painted. I tried to move slower, I tried to move faster by pushing harder with the touch of the spring. Nothing seemed to help. The rings are so brittle that they will break if you press too hard to keep them sticking to the work surface. It's just a very cheap product which is disappointing. Save yourself the headache and get Wild Gears instead.
