Surprisingly, dogs can't figure it out, but check out update

After we decided on the installation plan, the project went smoothly. We decided to start by cutting the hole smaller than the template so as not to make the hole too wide. Since we're rather dumb do-it-yourselfers, we used a screen cutter instead of metal scissors. Neither my husband nor I had the patience to cut every piece of metal. The door fits fine, but it's actually a tantrum. After about three nudges on the door, the cats stopped the process. Dogs, Jack Russell Terriers, cannot get along. One will come out, but it needs support to come back. The other is quite intimidated by the whole concept. He will agree to be wheeled in and out and will enter if the door is held in front of him. So the door has made life 25% better for cats and dogs, but it's worth protecting the screen from bumps and repelling flies. UPDATE: One of the Jack Russells has fully figured out how to use the door. Door. However, she is a princess and sometimes sits and barks because she needs a bouncer. The other Jack Russell basically figured it out, but sometimes he gets confused about it and needs a refresher course. However, he is no longer afraid of it.
