Review on KPKUE 15 6-Inch Portable Computer Monitor - External 1920X1080P, 60Hz, Built-In Speakers, Flicker-Free, Blue Light Filter, Z1 Pro, HD, HDMI by Nate Rodgers

Revainrating 3 out of 5

⚠️ Attention: USB-C connector requires video output support / has no VESA holes⚠️ Otherwise fair 🤷‍♂️

This monitor is great - it's a very responsive display with respectable built in speakers and an easy to use built in menu. I've used the included mini HDMI cable and Thunderbolt cable to connect my desktop and laptop and have confirmed that both work. The magnetic body is also durable and the device is slim enough to fit comfortably in most bags and backpacks with laptops included. ⚠️ I have to stress though: If you choose to connect via USB-C instead of HDMI, then the connection The USB-C port MUST support video output. That said, not all USB-C ports will work with this monitor, as "alternate modes" for video protocols like HDMI and DisplayPort are optional for USB 3.1/3.2 (and non-USB ports), so they may not be supported by yours USB-C port. Fortunately, all USB4 and Thunderbolt 3/4 ports support video output (at least DisplayPort Alternate Mode). My experience with USB-C? I was able to get it to work with my laptop's Thunderbolt 4 port, but not with my desktop's USB3.2-C port. Okay.⚠️ Another important note: This monitor does not have VESA holes on the back, while many other comparable portable monitors at a comparable price do. Without VESA holes, you can't place it on mounts for (convenient) permanent or semi-permanent use. This became very relevant recently when I needed a replacement monitor for my air arm. I had two portable monitors to fill the gap; While I prefer this a bit, it just doesn't have any mounting holes (and I don't trust VESA monitor/tablet adapters, although they exist), while the other does. As a result, this one sits on the shelf collecting dust, and the other one I use all day, every day (and it's just as great). If you're not planning on mounting this monitor, it might not matter to you, but you should consider the possibility that one day you'll actually be able to mount it. USB-C port) and another star for the lack of VESA holes, this is a decent monitor if you buy it at the right price. Note, however, that there are comparable monitors (size, quality, features, etc.) at comparable prices that have VESA holes, so buy wisely. May I recommend it? I would suggest to my friends/family/colleagues to choose another monitor with VESA holes, so no, I wouldn't. 👎(Review updated 10/22/26 - downgraded from 4 stars to 3 stars after noting VESA holes missing and found in comparable portable monitors at comparable prices)
