Pooh. Tried: Car electronics

Bought to replace the factory front speakers in an 04 MINI Cooper S. One of the stock tweeters broke, so I bought a new set of front speakers. I'll be honest here. I have been a car audio/video/security specialist for almost 10 years. Installs everything from JL and Hertz to Power Acoustic and Boss. Having never heard of this brand, I decided to give it a try. I bought all new soundproofing and new mounting adapters for the front doors so they fit snugly and the panels don't vibrate. The woofers mount easily and the tweeters are small enough to fit in the factory with minor modifications to the standard bracket. The only thing that bothered me was the crossover. It was so tiny and thin that when I took it out of the plastic it was wrapped in a sleeve and it came loose. This was a godsend as cheap components and inferior quality wires were found. There were black spots on the wiring (oxidation), which is bad in this branch. Oxygen-free copper should be used for this, and I expect a crossover of at least 12 dB. It turned out that this is only 6 dB. I proceeded to install as there are great reviews and who knows. You can be great. They seriously don't live up to the rave reviews I've read here. The tweeter crosses too high and only produces tinny noise that appears to be 10kHz or higher, and the woofer doesn't really have any appreciable lower frequency response. My factory 5 ohm paper cone speakers sounded better. I checked my wiring for phase and tried to set up stereo but it sounds bad. Don't waste your time. Spend €10-20 more for a better set. Heck, I'm returning mine and will be ordering Alpine Type-E components for about the same price. At least I know they will be of good quality.
