Subwoofers are very difficult to choose based on reviews. This is because different buyers are looking for different things. I've been a rock musician since the early 1960s. This can make a person think I want lots and lots of bottoms. In a way it is. I want whatever's in the mix. The sound that the sound engineer heard in the studio would be ideal for me. And here's the thing, folks. It's not boom. For the most part (on a well-made record) it's tight and punchy. A sound quite different from what can be heard from the windows of many teenage cars, for example. Or what used to be called "Boombox". Klipsch Reference R-10SW is musical. It's tight. In other words, it's safe. And yes, at fairly high volume there can be such things. And it's deep. As deep as it is loud to accurately reproduce everything except perhaps the organ. I purchased one of the refurbished "B Stock" items sold by Klipsch through Revain. Looks and works like new. It came quickly. I would like to see you again soon. Well, unless you prefer "Boom".
