Review on Trans Dapt 9042 Chrome Differential Cover by Dakota Tailor

Revainrating 4 out of 5

The lid bolt seal in the box is good for store display.

Well packaged, attractive outer packaging, suitable for display in a showroom or shop window. The lid used a decent chrome plating, not flashy quality but firm, the gasket supplied is a little flimsy and was bent around the edge so I was worried about leaks. Used aviation gasket on one side of the gasket on the body and none on the side of the lid to hold the gasket in place. No leaks since installing a month ago. As you can see in the picture, there is no drain plug on the cover. Only time will tell how well the chrome finish holds up to the weather, it would be wise to wipe it down with a thin sticky lubricant such as ATF gear fluid or gun oil from time to time. I wish I had another supplier with my gearbox. Looks good behind the car. The screws looked stainless rather than chromed, they could be coated or dipped in a product.
