I bought these based on a review saying they were the best budget headphones out there. May be. And that may be why I avoided cheap headphones. The sound on these things is terrible - very little bass, distorted highs and muddy vocals. Flat cables do not tangle; i will give it to you But they make it very difficult to use the headphones in the position that gives the best sound (still not that good); upside down with a cord behind the ears. Flat cables are awkward to use this way and won't stay in place. If you really need to spend less than $20 on headphones, then maybe. But if you can spend $30 (or less on eBay), Apple EarPods sound a lot better. I bought these to keep by my bed when I left my EarPods at the office and my favorite Bose® MIE2i phones in my jacket pocket. I'll probably leave the iLuv headphones in for the occasional bedtime YouTube or Ted chat. But I'm more likely to learn to be more careful and take my best gear when I'm ready to let go.
