The ability to simulate mass transfer, heat exchangers, reactors with different configurations (including plug flow) as well as many other features are very useful for my research work in Chemical Engineering. I have used it mostly for simulation of batch processes but there's no reason why you can't use this software also for continuous flows or even multiphase simulations! It has helped me understand reaction kinetics better than some commercial packages which cost thousands per license. You need to be able to read code written by others though because most functions provided through menus aren't documented anywhere so finding out how things actually works requires trial & error. Also sometimes when running large models that take hours/days to run, if something goes wrong during execution then restarting takes quite awhile too - not good practice really since we're trying to get results quickly here. In addition, while using this program for modeling purposes, sometimes the interface does freeze up temporarily. However once everything gets back into.
