Almost Perfect - Microphones and Accessories

I've used a lot of different stands in the past, including desktop mounts, and they all seem to have a few flaws. In most cases, those attached to the table will slide off the table or leave dents in the wood and scratches in the metal and glass. I decided I was done with desktop mounts and gave this stand a try. The first thing I worried about was that it would be too weak and fall over with heavy mics. Fortunately this is not the case. In fact, it's strong enough that I can easily slip a heavy foam soundproofing panel into it. The base is very heavy, so the mic stand will not tip over even when the arm is extended to the maximum. But therein lies the biggest problem with the rack. The lever extends quite a bit, but there's no mechanism for tightening the bottom of the lever, only the top. That means when you fully extend your arm you'll need to tighten the top screw hard if you want the mic to stay in place. In fact, in some cases, due to the resistance of the springs pulling it back, it's so difficult to tighten that there are corners that just aren't possible to hold the stand securely. I'm concerned that if I overtighten the screw it might break or snap and I don't want to risk that. Other than that, it was a fantastic purchase. I'm impressed with the stability and quality of the stand and if it could hold its shape a bit better when fully extended it would be perfect.
