So I work as a commercial photographer and need my computer on site to capture (stream) my photos from my camera to my laptop so I can view a larger image instead of a 3 inch LCD. Screen on the back of the camera. This "case" allows me a quick setup. While I don't mind using a case, I've found that the polycarbonate case protects my investment (and my clients' photos) from potential damage. I have a new mid 2017 MacBook Pro Retina with an A1707 Touch Bar and it fits like a glove. I think it's kind of a preference. One thing I really would have liked was a protective sticker around the edges, especially the back edge of the laptop. Although I understand why the rear edge where the hinge is located isn't covered in plastic. I wish they had some kind of "skin" sticker that they would give you. This is easily fixed with another company for a few extra dollars. Another reviewer spoke about how his MacBook slides into the case. Well obviously he/she bought the wrong case or bothered to follow the instructions correctly. rzunimag. I have no movement and even corners and sides.
