The counter was defective. Even after using the screw in the center of the lower part of the face, I couldn't zero the scale. The attached picture shows how close I was able to get it. Not worth the hassle of sending it back, but also useless for most of my purposes when I use it. The product itself is really neat and works great but not being able to reset it makes me completely dissatisfied.
