Okay, so full disclosure here, I ordered this baby cosleeping bed because I have a very tiny rescue dog who is too small to sleep in bed with us because of the danger of her being flipped off the bed or suffocated so I figured having her sleep next to us in this human baby bed was better than crating her since she hates a crate. And, don't ya know, it worked, when it's lights out she walks from my bed down into this crib which snugs right up to ours and puts herself to bed (I just put her little dog bed inside it) and I never hear a peep out of her until morning and I know she is safe but still feels like she is with us. Sorry I can't help you on the use of it for a human baby but I can say I think this is an awesome product. It is sturdy and beautifully made, and if I were a young parent I would find it invaluable as both a bassinet and as a baby bedside sleeper and it's even portable. It is huge (which is funny because my dog is only 3 lbs and 8 inches long, lol), much bigger than I thought it would be, with exterior measurements being about 24.5 x 36, which makes getting in and out of bed a little tough but I have gotten used to scooting down to get out of bed. And since it is so big it makes having a nightstand difficult so again, for my purposes I put a little cloth basket in one end to hold my iPad glasses and remote etc but a pouch on the side would be nice. Also I wish it went a little higher, the cosleeper mattress is not level with the top my own mattress so with the side down there is a bit of a drop down (about 5 inches) but again it still works for me and if you have a baby in it he or she would still be very easy to reach. I love the color, a very soft gray and it was very easy to put together, with a less than 10 minute assemble time and the tote bag is very handy if you need to take it places. I think this is a wonderful baby bed for those first months or a great dog bed if you are just a crazy dog lady.
