I know this product is for closet doors but my husband put it on our wooden basement door. Our home was built in the 1920's and many of the doors/walls have been displaced meaning the doors no longer close properly. There are many ways to fix such a problem, but installing one of these shutters turned out to be the easiest fix. Now our door closes smoothly. However my husband had to add a stack of washers to align the plate on the door with the magnet on the frame as there was a gap. This repair would not be ideal for a door in the formal part of the home as it would be unsightly to see the plaque at the top of the door. I imagine they would be great for closets, although you'll need a much smaller one than the one we used for our door.
