My Asus router gets a little warm so I decided to replace the tiny factory thermal pads with larger ones that cover a larger surface area. After 2 years of continuous use, the factory seals become fully flexible and can be easily removed and reinstalled. Same goes for the thermal pad on the SSD on my 3 year old Dell XPS laptop. The thermal pad can be removed and reattached. Yesterday I attached them to the bottom of the router board as soon as I received them. I noticed a temperature drop of 1-2 degrees. My 3mm gelid pad arrived today so I disassembled the router to install larger pads on the chips on the other side of the board as well. Literally less than a day later, these coatings became dry, stuck to the panel and could not be removed. See photos. The brown color isn't due to heat discoloration of the pad, I think it's just a heatsink stain. Return these.
