I live in a mostly dry area, but I've been traveling and had to get out in the rain. I ordered one of these and installed it in just a few minutes. It worked well for me to keep my bum dry during a very wet ride. This is enough to keep the rooster's tail from touching you and most importantly, to keep your suede dry. It was a bit difficult to take it off because the plastic is quite hard, but I'd rather put up with it than have it fall out while driving. Not the best permanent solution, but a great addition to your gear bag on unexpectedly wet days.
