Of course when I travel I take my phone and tablet with me. I wanted to add a dashcam and another device or two. On some car brands, the cigarette lighter turns off when the ignition is turned off. With my brand, the socket is always on. I need a splitter that I can turn off so it doesn't drain the battery. I have a 3 way splitter that I plug into my console. However, it has some disadvantages. The on/off switch is located on the splitter. It's always inconvenient to open/close the console to turn on/off the splitter every time I start/stop the car. Save on design. The frames have a wide plastic rim and the metal doesn't go all the way through. One of the plugs I have can't make contact because I can't push it further into a socket that has metal in it. It's annoying. When I found this splitter, it solved all my problems. The frames are made entirely of metal with a thin plastic rim. The splitter has a fourth outlet that is difficult to find. With three USB ports on the hub, I don't need another USB charger. The power switch on the plug is awesome. After I start the car there is very little left before the splitter turns on. The icing on the cake is that it fits perfectly in the back of the console, with plenty of cable to get to the dash port. I've attached a picture of the splitter in the console. The three USB ports light up when the hub is powered on. Some reviewers mentioned the lack of tape or mounting holes. Luckily I don't need any of that. If I were to do that I would look at double sided tape or velcro and I have both.
