I used this on a silver plated cymbal which turned out to be a brass colored metal. The grout covers decorated areas well, but not so well on smooth surfaces. I thought it was a fantastic copper connection. He polishes the silver like a dream. I even used it on some metal buttons that looked gold and a bit tarnished - now they're shiny silver. An old silver plate from the 1940's showing the base metal now looks new again. I found that the better the silver transmission is the more porous the metal. When the solution becomes black, you can see better results and it is usually more than an application of the solution. If you are using this on something that is going to be eaten, simply buff the item well with a soft, dry cloth after application and then wash the item well before use. The old jewelry came out great - it covered all the scratches where the silver edge was worn. I would say that 90 % of what I tried worked well.
