Melitta SENZ V: kitchen & dining room

It was the summer of Find The Best Coffee System. There's a reason for that: I don't drink coffee, and my husband usually makes coffee in an Alessi espresso pot on the stove. Simple, uncomplicated, and he likes the result. But this summer we are in our country house and we will be visiting a lot of family, more family than Alessi can handle as it's a lot of coffee drinkers. We tried different methods to make basic coffee and espresso machines that love them all, electronic, press, everything I think. Most left us a little unimpressed. The coffee was good but the process was a pain. We bought an espresso machine which is a keeper and while we found the process easy our guests didn't, so in the future guests can keep their hands on them and we can make coffee when we are ready. But Melitta comes in - coffee lovers! -- with this very nice electronic filling system. It's a really elegant design, but it's really cumbersome. The husband enjoyed his cups of tea but suggested on more than one occasion that if we wanted to make a brew just grab the chemex and skip the outlet. That is beautiful. Makes a big coffee for one. A coffee drinker at home enjoying his cup of tea. It looks like things are about to break. We've opted for an espresso machine that no one else can touch and a large French press in a thermos for when guests return. This is our lesson from Find the Best Coffee System.
