After weeks of testing several replacements I had to buy a used VW key fob on eBay because VW doesn't even make old 4 button fobs. So I was incredibly surprised when the dealer who reprogrammed the used key fob was also able to program and cut it. The dealer charged me $7 to cut this key and only $60 to program two fobs. *rolls eyes* I'm not sure if this aftermarket key fob has an immobilizer circuit like the one in the OEM key piece; but it still works after a few months. And now I actually have a replacement - a used OEM key fob that also slipped off the key piece. Exactly the same problem was with the original keychain. I no longer worry about losing half my key.
