Review on Opticron Rubber Objective Diameter 50 52Mm by Ralph Gerry

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Perfect combination - Leupold Yosemite 8x30 and Nikon Laserforce 10x42

Leupold Yosemite 8x30 Binoculars: Measured outside diameter of lens was 43mm (old binoculars but I still use them a lot). These 42-44mm cases fit perfectly. Tight but easy to put on. Good quality material. These binoculars came with loose caps so it was a "must have" (wish I had done this long ago). I was thrown back by the price but when I got these cases they were worth it. The attached picture shows one side with the cap and the other side with the cap removed so you can see the natural drop point. Nikon Laserforce 10x42 range finder binoculars: Lens measured was about 54.6. Lids 53-55 mm fit perfectly. I was a little concerned they would be too snug, but they are not. They fit just as well as the above cases. The caps that come with these Nikon binoculars "slide into the lens barrel" and are not caps. After a few uses, I found that as much as I liked the plug design for sealing the elements, they never went in easily. Insertion always required some fiddling and moderate pressure (one slip and you could easily smear a greasy fingerprint on the lens). These new covers are very easy to fit with no fuss or unnecessary hassle, and they fit so snugly they won't come loose. If I hadn't bought these cases for my Leupold binoculars I would never have bought cases for my beautiful new expensive Nikon binoculars. But I'm glad I did. As much as I love these Nikon range finder binoculars (they are amazing), I'm tired of wasting 30 seconds and, perhaps more importantly, focusing my full attention on the binoculars just to fix the objective lenses.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
