Jug filters don't reduce lead

Jug filters no longer remove lead at all. I spent almost 30 minutes talking to customer service about this. She was very helpful, explaining that the Krug two-stage water filters had "updated technology" (the box I received in the mail is now labeled "MaxIon Filter Technology"). Improved filters no longer remove lead (which doesn't sound like an "upgrade"!). They also mentioned that the Pur brand was bought by them (Kaz) about 3 years ago and since then they only use the NSF certification. That's a positive thing, but it makes me doubt lead has ever been filtered through pitcher filters in the past. They said the old boxes indicated the lead removal wasn't certified by the NSF but by another organization that isn't as reliable. You can see it in one of the pictures on the product page. I saw this picture when I bought them but I only saw the lead reduction part. If you want to remove lead from the Pur brand, you need to switch to a 3-stage water filter that mounts on the faucet. moving to a whole new product, dealing with adapters, leaks, etc. I've been using Pur pitchers for a number of years and don't want to fiddle with the faucet mount. So as an existing customer this is a huge disappointment on several levels. I will be stopping using Pur products for a while and trying to find another pitcher option that actually reduces lead.
