Review on Sony XSMP1611 6 5 Inch Marine Speakers by Alex Mitra

I replaced an existing set of Fusion marine speakers which cost about the same as these Sony speakers. I bought these thinking I would get a certain level of quality because they were made by Sony. I was wrong, these speakers are terrible. They weigh about half as much as the Fusion speakers (same power) and sound half as good. The design of the speaker covers is also pretty ridiculous for marine use. The screws holding the screws go through the grille exposing the head of the screw. Cheap little plastic caps are supplied to cover the screws. They don't fit properly and will eventually come loose. For reference, the Fusion speaker covers, and any others I've seen for this application, rotate over the speaker and completely cover the mounting screws. SONY DROPPED THE BALL ONTO THIS SPEAKER.
