Looks great but beware

This keyboard is great! The design matches my iPad Pro and the buttons are well placed and comfortable. Many features are listed, such as a backlit keyboard and long battery life. The problems start with the latter. I have an iPad Pro 12.9 out of the box, so there's nothing special about my configuration. After charging this keyboard overnight, I eagerly popped it into my iPad, paired it (it was easy), and started using it. I closed it and took it to work (I work at a large state research university in the Central Department of Information Technology). I went to my first meeting, opened the iPad/Brydge combo; it was deader than four hours! Strange! I plugged it in, the LED showed charging for 1 minute and then went GREEN again. It's loaded, right? Well it worked while I was using it while sitting openly on my desk. Of course, he went to bed as advertised and woke up when a key was pressed. Great, isn't it? I closed it and went to the next meeting. Open and NADA, zip code, zero. I contacted Bridge who responded quickly and sent me an RMA to return it. A few weeks later (it was holidays so I won't reply to them) I get an email saying they didn't find anything wrong and all I had to do was press a button to wake him up! I replied that I knew and asked if they tested it as described: close, open after a few minutes, etc. No response. I received a message thanking you for the purchase. Three weeks later I still don't have a keyboard. I wrote to the company again and they responded quickly and apologized for sending it but it was returned to them. you will send it to me They did; They sent me my original Brydge. There were no changes in his work. As long as it's open and you're using it, it looks and works GREAT! However, when I close it and walk 50 feet back to my office, open it and PRESS any key, I get NO response. My workaround is to keep a small battery handy, briefly plug it into the charging port, and then unplug it again. Everything works again. I wanted to test this keyboard to recommend it for a campus that uses a large and growing number of iPads, not to mention the number of devices we use in the labs. I really hoped so! It doesn't, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone unless you're willing to dig into the 'workaround', plug it in and 'run' it a few times a day. There are alternatives that I will be testing soon. I had high hopes for this product given its price and the look and feel of the support team. It could just be a lemon; It happens. However, Brydge had no desire to improve anything. I have been in the information technology industry for over 20 years and as a technologist I understand how to work with users and overcome challenges. The customer is not always right, but I always give them reason to doubt; lemons there; Give them a working model and move on. Be careful Emptor! Let the buyer beware and warn.

Pros
